Procedure

Arthroscopic ankle fusion has many proven benefits when compared to open fusion techniques. Arthrex's comprehensive product line provides surgeons with all the necessary tools for safe and effective arthroscopic fusion of the ankle joint.
The ankle arthroscopy set includes multiple curettes and osteotomes to facilitate preparation of arthritic joints. The PoweRasp™ and PowerPick™ devices allow for simple cartilage removal and marrow stimulation at the distal tibia and talus.
After appropriate preparation of the fusion site, surgeons can use the GPS Targeting System to pinpoint placement of K-wires. Once the K-wires are in place, fusion can be achieved using the Arthrex 7.0 mm Compression FT Screws.

The titanium Compression FT (fully threaded) screws come in 2.5 mm Micro, 3.5 mm Mini, 4.0 mm Standard, 5.0 mm Large, and 7.0 mm XL. The variable-stepped thread pitch and headless design help reduce the risk of profile complications, provide compression, and allow for simplified insertion. Surgeons can now achieve zero-profile, stable fixation. The Compression FT family of screws now offers 5 diameters and 91 screw lengths to fit various orthopedic applications throughout the body.

Compression FT Screws

The DynaNite nitinol compression plates take advantage of the superelastic property of nitinol to create dynamic compression across a fusion site. Each plate comes packaged with a compression device. When the compression device is removed, the bridge is allowed to widen to its manufactured natural state. As the plate widens, it shortens to compress the fusion site.
The DynaNite nitinol compression plates are offered in 5 different plate geometries of varying lengths. The plates can be fixated with 3.0 mm or 3.0 mm hybrid cortical and VAL screws.
The Arthrex DynaNite compression plates are intended to be used in conjunction with the Arthrex Compression FT screws.

The Arthrex MIS product portfolio continues to grow with the introduction of the Minimally Invasive Bunionectomy System. This trajectory system helps achieve correction and fixation placement using a percutaneous approach. Designed to work with this specific system, the beveled fully threaded screws are angled to provide zero-profile fixation. Additionally, a dedicated power unit and instrumentation are available. The MIS line is further supported by Medical Education courses focused on minimally invasive techniques.
