A long lesser metatarsal can lead to common toe problems. A metatarsal shortening osteotomy can help prevent future complications, including plantar plate tears leading to crossover toe deformities, as well as hammer toes and claw toes. Once these complications have occurred, the surgeon may choose a metatarsal shortening osteotomy to decompress the MTP joint and decrease the tension on dynamic soft tissues.

The Trim-It™ pin simplifies PIP joint fixation, as the 1.5 or 2.0 mm pin seats into any standard wire driver. The PLLA material provides superior shear strength over competitive absorbable pins and enables the surgeon to anatomically position the toe after implantation, leaving the patient with an aesthetically pleasing flexed toe fusion.1,2 
 
Trim-It Pins can also be used for 1st metatarsal bunionectomy, proximal interphalangeal resection, ankle fractures, and fixation of chondral fragments.

TRIM-IT™ Pins

Hand and Wrist

Trim-It Pins™ make pin placement easier. By using a standard quick connect pin driver, bioabsorbable pins can be drilled and placed all in one easy step. The bioabsorbable portion of the pin is seated in the pin driver during the drilling phase. The metal tip is drilled past the far cortex and cut off with the Bone Cutting Forceps or Hot Loop Cutter. Trim-It Pins™ provide preliminary or definitive stabilization of small fracture fragments, involving periarticular injuries. While still maintaining the initial reduction, the fractures can be fixed definitively with plates and screws without blocking hardware placement.

The DynaNite PIP hammertoe implant is a threaded, cannulated, nitinol solution for hammer toe deformities. The implant barbs are extended by inserting a K-wire and maintain fixation due to the material properties of nitinol. Cannulation allows for surgeons to cross the MTP joint with the K-wire if desired and allows for precision drilling and insertion of the implant. Implants are offered in 12 mm, 14 mm, and 16 mm sizes.
