Utilizing BioComposite™ SutureTak® anchors and curved Micro SutureLasso™, surgeons are able to perform an all-arthroscopic lateral ankle ligament repair while simultaneously addressing any intra-articular pathology that may be present from the previous injury.

ArthroBrostrom™ Repair Implant System

The Arthrex Brostrom Repair™ technique and implant system allows surgeons to perform a Modified Brostrom‐Gould repair through one small 1.5 cm incision. Utilizing the Arthrex percutaneous Micro SutureLasso™ suture passer, pass the sutures through the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) and the extensor retinaculum via the limited incision. The Arthrex Brostrom Repair technique provides the least invasive open Brostrom repair technique available on the market and comes packaged together in a convenient all‐in‐one implant system designed specifically for this minimally invasive operation.

Arthrex Brostrom Repair™

James Cottom, DPM, FACFAS (Bradenton, FL) presents a live surgery demonstrating a Mini-Incision modified Brostrom repair utilizing the Arthrex® Brostrom Repair System. The Arthrex Brostrom Repair System allows surgeons to complete a modified Brostrom repair through one tiny 1.5 cm incision with the aid of a Micro SutureLasso™ to shuttle the sutures through the ATFL and extensor retinaculum. To add strength to the repair, after tying the construct tightly to the fibula, Dr. Cottom elects to modify his Mini-Incision Brostrom repairs by bridging the repair superiorly on the fibula using a 2.9 mm DX PushLock®.

Mini-Incision Modified Brostrom Gould Repair Utilizing the Arthrex® Brostrom Repair System and 2.9 mm DX PushLock®

Jorge Acevedo, MD, (Jacksonville, FL) presents his technique for a minimally invasive Brostrom repair using the Arthrex® Brostrom Repair system. After inserting two BioComposite™ SutureTak® suture anchors through a small 1.5 cm incision at the distal tip of the fibula, Dr. Acevedo shuttles the four sutures through the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) and extensor retinaculum using a curved Micro SutureLasso™. The Arthrex Brostrom Repair system contains all the necessary products to perform this repair through a small incision.

Mangone, MD, (Asheville, NC) and Jorge Acevedo, MD, (Royal Palm Beach, FL) allows surgeons to perform an all-arthroscopic modified Brostrom repair utilizing BioComposite SutureTak® Anchors and Curved Micro SutureLassos™. Arthrex® has developed a convenient repair system for the ArthroBrostrom technique for added simplicity and reproducibility.

Peter G. Mangone, MD, (Asheville, NC) presents the ArthroBrostrom® technique utilizing the Arthrex ArthroBrostrom implant system for chronic lateral ankle instability. Dr. Mangone reviews the history of arthroscopic repair techniques for lateral ankle instability and compares his outcomes to standard open repair techniques. Finally, Dr. Mangone performs a cadaveric demonstration of the ArthroBrostrom technique while highlighting technique pearls to allow for a simple, reproducible and solid arthroscopic repair of the lateral ankle ligaments and extensor retinaculum.
